Clarity. Insight. A Strong Foundation for Treatment.

Why People Seek Psychological Assessments

People often pursue a psychological assessment when they want:

  • A clear diagnosis after years of therapy without one

  • Resolution of conflicting past diagnoses

  • Clarity about their symptoms (anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, OCD, relational and identity challenges)

  • Help distinguishing overlapping symptoms like anxiety vs. ADHD or OCD vs. perfectionism

  • Insight into deeper patterns that keep showing up in relationships, work, or emotional regulation

  • Understanding typical coping strategies they use and what works versus keeps them stuck

  • Exploration of personality patterns, attachment styles, and impacts of adverse life events

  • A strong foundation before starting therapy

Overall, people seek assessment when they want to understand why they feel the way they do and how to move forward with a clear, effective treatment plan.

What This Assessment Does

As a PSYPACT-authorized psychologist, Dr. C provides online psychological assessments for adults seeking clear, accurate diagnostic understanding and an individualized treatment plan. These evaluations are available to clients who live in any PSYPACT-participating state. These assessments are fully virtual, secure, and collaborative.

This assessment focuses on diagnostic clarity for common psychological concerns—such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, ADHD traits, obsessive-compulsive patterns, perfectionism, relational challenges, emotional dysregulation, and personality-related concerns.

The goal of this assessment is to help you deeply understand your emotional functioning, internal patterns, relational patterns, and common coping strategies so therapy can be precise and effective. You will receive:

  • A collaborative, therapeutic experience that already begins the work of healing

  • A comprehensive clinical interview that explores your history, symptoms, personality patterns, and coping approaches

  • Evidence-based screening and assessment tools relevant to your presenting concerns

  • A clear, accurate diagnosis, when appropriate

  • A description of your strengths and values

  • More than just a label: You will receive a description and clear conceptualization (story about your symptoms) that helps you understand the origins and influencing factors of your symptoms

  • A detailed, personalized treatment plan you can use with Dr. C or another provider

This process is especially valuable for individuals who have complex psychological histories or multiple overlapping symptoms.

A Therapeutic Approach, Not Just Testing

This assessment is grounded in psychodynamic and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles. We explore the deeper patterns shaping your emotions, relationships, and internal experiences—helping you understand why you feel and respond the way you do. The assessment aims to provide you more than just a diagnosis (a description of your symptoms); it will provide you an understanding of what causes and can improve your symptoms.

Instead of pathologizing your symptoms, we focus on building psychological flexibility, clarifying your values, and developing a compassionate understanding of your internal world. Together, these approaches create an assessment that is insight-oriented, emotionally meaningful, and deeply supportive, not cold or clinical.

Who This Assessment Is For

This evaluation is an excellent fit if you:

  • Want clarity about your symptoms or diagnosis

  • Have been in therapy before but never received a clear explanation of your patterns

  • Are beginning therapy and want a strong foundation

  • Feel stuck repeating the same cycles

  • Are high-functioning but struggling internally

  • Want a clinician who can think deeply and integrate emotional, relational, and cognitive factors

Sometimes clients have had disappointing experiences with prior assessments that were done quickly and sometimes without a feedback session. Clients often share that this is the first time their internal experience is understood in a way that makes sense and leads to real change.

What This Assessment Does Not Do

To avoid confusion, this evaluation does not include:

  • Neuropsychological testing (e.g., performance-based testing of cognitive and intellectual functioning)

  • Cognitive performance testing (e.g., IQ tests, memory batteries, learning disabilities evaluations)

  • Court-ordered or forensic assessments

  • Disability or workplace accommodations evaluations

If you need any of these, I can help you determine the right type of provider. In our first appointment, we will discuss whether neuropsychological testing is needed.

What to Expect

  1. Initial Consultation (15 minutes): We confirm the assessment is appropriate for your needs and that you reside in a PSYPACT-participating state.

  2. Initial Intake Session (90–120 minutes): We will gather more information about your goals for the assessment and gather details about your life story thus far. A review of screening questionnaires.

  3. Follow-up Sessions (60 minutes each, 2-3 sessions): Collaborative interviews of symptoms, coping patterns, relational patterns, impacts of symptoms, and adminstration of personality inventories.

  4. Behind the Scenes (for one to two weeks after your last session): Dr. C spends 8-12 hours writing a comprehensive report of your life story, assessment results, diagnostic conclusions, conceptualization (story about your symptoms), and treatment recommendations.

  5. Feedback Session (45-60 minutes): Dr. C will review with you the results of the report. She will share her screen and show you the "high points" (results tables and relevant graphics). She will provide multiple opportunities for you to ask questions. If applicable, she will describe what diagnoses you meet criteria for and why (or why you don't meet criteria for a diagnosis). She will review treatment recommendations in depth and help you determine next steps for treatment.

  6. Personalized Report and Treatment Plan: Specific recommendations tailored to your goals, strengths, and therapeutic needs that you can share with future providers if needed.

  7. Accommodation Letters (optional): If an ADHD diagnosis indicates need for accommodations at work or school, these accommodations will be discussed and recommended via a letter as needed.

  8. Optional Ongoing TherapyYou may continue treatment with Dr. C or use this evaluation as a guide for therapy elsewhere. Many clients find it helpful to continue with Dr. C because a therapeutic foundation and relationship has been established to accomplish deep work; however, Dr. C fully supports you seeking the right fit for yourself elsewhere (or continuing with you current provider if applicable).

  9. Cost: $1,200 paid in installments throughout the process ($200 to reserve first appointment, $200 at each of the 3 assessment sessions, $400 at feedback session).

    1. Assessments can take up to 17 hours of appointments, interpreting data, writing the results, researching relevant topics, and developing and writing the conceptualization and treatment plan.

    2. Significant work and thinking happens about your assessment (sometimes when Dr. C is even just going about her day).

    3. This cost aligns with that. and comes out to about $70 per hour of Dr. C's time (which is typical and in some cases lower than assessment costs).

    4. Dr. C is happy to discuss concerns about costs, alternative payment options, and will provide a superbill for reimbursement from your insurance company if requested.
