The Perfectionism Reset: A 12-Week Therapy Group for High Achievers Struggling With Overcontrol, Anxiety, and Burnout

Dr. Caitlin Clevenger, an expert in treating perfectionism and overcontrol, working on her computer in a nature setting

Designed for adults with perfectionistic tendencies, rigid thinking patterns, or OCPD traits who want to move from control and exhaustion toward flexibility, connection, and balance.

From the outside, you may appear highly capable, dependable, and successful. Others see someone who gets things done, follows through on commitments, and seems to have everything under control. Inside, however, you may feel exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, or constantly on edge. Even after accomplishing your goals, it may never feel like enough. Instead of enjoying your success, you immediately move on to the next responsibility or goal, convinced you should always be doing more.

Perhaps you struggle to relax because your mind is constantly planning, organizing, or worrying about what still needs to be done or worked towards. Maybe you find yourself holding yourself—and sometimes others—to impossibly high standards. You may feel responsible for everything, have difficulty delegating, or become frustrated when things aren't done "the right way." While these traits may have helped you succeed , they may also be contributing to anxiety, burnout, relationship strain, and a life that feels more driven by obligation than fulfillment.

Many people who experience these patterns identify with perfectionism, overcontrol, or Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD) traits. These patterns often develop gradually and can become so familiar that they simply feel like part of your personality.  These traits are not all bad; they have helped you succeed. However, you may privately recognize the emotional cost of constantly striving for more while rarely feeling satisfied.

You Don't Have to Keep Living This Way

The Perfectionism Reset is a 12-week virtual psychotherapy group designed for adults who are ready to move beyond chronic perfectionism, overcontrol, and burnout.

This group is ideal for individuals who:

  • Constantly feel responsible for everything

  • Struggle to relax or slow down without feeling guilty

  • Hold themselves (or others) to rigid or unrealistic standards

  • Experience anxiety when things feel uncertain or out of their control

  • Feel burned out despite being highly successful

  • Have difficulty asking for help or delegating

  • Find it hard to connect with their emotions or practice self-compassion

  • Want healthier relationships and a more balanced life

What You'll Learn

Over twelve weeks, we'll combine evidence-based approaches—including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), cognitive-behavioral strategies, and interpersonal insights—to help you understand the patterns driving perfectionism and develop healthier ways of responding.

Together, we'll explore how to:

  • Reduce perfectionism without impacting your standards or success

  • Become more flexible when life doesn't go according to plan

  • Decrease anxiety related to uncertainty and control

  • Develop healthier boundaries and improve relationships

  • Build self-compassion without sacrificing motivation

  • Reconnect with your values instead of constantly chasing achievement

  • Create a more sustainable, meaningful life

A Different Kind of Therapy Group

Unlike many support groups, this is a structured psychotherapy group that combines education, practical skill-building, guided discussion, and meaningful interpersonal learning. You'll gain insight not only from the curriculum but also from connecting with others who understand the hidden challenges of perfectionism and overcontrol.

Who Is This Group For?

This group is designed for adults throughout Alabama, Georgia, and PSYPACT states who struggle with perfectionism, overcontrol, burnout, anxiety, or OCPD traits.

Many participants are high-achieving professionals—including physicians, psychologists, attorneys, executives, educators, entrepreneurs, and graduate students—but you do not need to work in one of these professions to benefit. If your drive for excellence has begun to interfere with your well-being, relationships, or ability to enjoy life, this group may be a good fit.

Who Leads the Group?

This group is led by Dr. Caitlin Clevenger, a licensed clinical psychologist (in GA and AL) with authority to practice tele psychology in PSYPACT-participating states. Dr. Clevenger has six years of experience helping clients of various backgrounds navigate perfectionism, burn out, overthinking, anxiety, and difficulties with control. She will incorporate her experience in facilitating groups and offering experiential therapy (not just bandaid solutions) for perfectionism to help you find more balance in your life.

You Don't Have to Earn This Time to Care for Yourself

For many people, seeking therapy feels uncomfortable because they've spent years believing they should be able to handle everything on their own. In reality, asking for help is not a sign of weakness—it's often the first step toward creating a life that feels less driven by pressure and more guided by purpose.

You have spent enough time trying to do everything perfectly. This group offers an opportunity to learn what life can look like when you no longer have to. Reach out below to schedule an intake call and join the waitlist for the group.

Investment

The Perfectionism Reset is a 12-week closed virtual psychotherapy group designed to provide structured, evidence-based treatment for perfectionism, overcontrol, burnout, and OCPD traits.

Program Fee: $960.00 ($80 per session, paid in full at first session)

At $80 per session, this group is offered at approximately half the cost of an individual psychotherapy session with Dr. Caitlin Clevenger, making it an affordable way to receive specialized treatment while also benefiting from the unique therapeutic advantages of a group setting. Because this is a closed psychotherapy group, your enrollment reserves one of a limited number of spaces for the full 12-week program. As a result, participants remain financially responsible for the program once the group begins, regardless of attendance or early withdrawal.

Your commitment includes:

  • Twelve 90-minute virtual psychotherapy sessions

  • A complementary 15-minute pre-group screening to determine whether the group is a good fit

  • A structured curriculum based on evidence-based approaches to perfectionism, overcontrol, and OCPD traits

  • Guided discussion, experiential exercises, and between-session practice

  • Handouts and supplemental resources throughout the program, including audio-guided exercises outside of session

  • Treatment led by Dr. Caitlin Clevenger, a clinical psychologist specializing in perfectionism, anxiety, overcontrol, and high-achieving adults

Because this is a closed psychotherapy group, enrollment is limited to maintain a safe, cohesive therapeutic environment. Once the group begins, new members will not be added.

Insurance

This group is offered as a private-pay service. Insurance is not billed directly.

If you have out-of-network behavioral health benefits, you may request a Superbill to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and varies by individual plan.

Attendance

Because each session builds upon the previous week and members learn from one another's experiences, regular attendance is strongly encouraged. While occasional absences are understandable, participants should plan to attend the majority of sessions to receive the greatest benefit from the program.
